another northern book, about finland's lapp population. curt biging (1887-1950), a german doctor, wrote this travel report after a visit to the inari lake.
around 1930 karl franke (1894-1952), was an endorser of the "new typography" movement, a fact clearly visible in the design of this book: asymmetically arranged titles and photos, and strong black-white-red colour contrasts with a bold slab-serif.
after ww2 karl franke designed numerous books for the new büchergilde gutenberg in frankfurt
