benedikt kautsky (1994-1960) followed the footsteps of his father karl kautsky who was a leading marxist theoretician.
this 1931 paperback reflects the economically and politcally problematic reparation payments (by germany) after ww1 and the ongoing rearmament in european countries. benedikt kautsky suggests that both should stop, and europe should unite – well, it came different ...
... kautsky spent seven years in concentration camps.
the typography of this paperback is nothing special, but i like the modernist the photomontage cover by emil karl maenner (1893-1990), a munich-born graphic designer who lived in vienna: the map and shadow-throwing modernist letters reminds of the book jacket in story 110.
