this 1970 zürich exhibition w– its title means text letter image – was about visual poetry.
the catalogue's cover design is credited to "atelier walter diethelm". walter diethelm (1913-1986) trained as a graphic designer and worked for the printing company fretz in zürich – as did walter cyliax (see story 201) – before he opened his own studio in 1936. diethelm also designed typefaces, e.g. diethelm antiqua and sculptura. diethelm used helvetica for this catalogue cover.
typical swiss typography with asymmetric page layout, sans-serif type, and pages in different colours. below on the right a poem by claus bremer .
