justus ehrhardt (1901-1944) was involved with the proletarian youth movement, and the lefist agis-verlag publshed his story about the boy hans schulze who illegally lives on the streets in 1931.
werner eggert (1909-196x) designed many impressive photomontage covers and jackets for leftist publications, in a style similar to john heartfield.
note how the endless line of sitting unemployed men continues on the yellow jacket flap.
the assymetrically arranged title features sans-serif capitals, with futura on the spine and flaps.
the logo of the agis-verlag with its spread-legged worker swinging a hammer – similar to the logo of "die schmiede" (see story 172) and "internationaler arbeiter-verlag" (story 301).
