elisabeth thommen (1888-1960) was a prominent swiss radio journalist and feminist. in 1933 she published a travel report from the soviet union – see story 20. this undated 1931 brochure ("she is seeking and striving and erring..."), also published by oprecht & helbling, is an essay on women's rights.
max bill designed several covers/jackets for this publisher in the early 1930s, but this design is uncredited and not listed in the bill catalogue (isbn 3721203410). the asymmetrically arranged all-lowercase sans-serif, ...
... and the asymmetric page layout with all page numbers on the left show a strong new typography influence. however, the machine-set text is rather poorly spaced, and the ads at the end are definitely "old typography".
