the typography of this 1926 photographic book is rather conventional on the inner pages, ...
... however the dustjacket is in early "new typography style modernist: uppercase sans-serif in an asymmetric arrangement with bold red rules and photograph.
the bright orange cloth cover with sans-serif type and boxes in blue reminds somewhat of this book written and designed by paul renner – a coincidence?
the yellow top edge ads to the warm, "far-eastern" colour scheme.
no designer is named, but according to christopher burke's excellent book (isbn 1568981589, p.53) the book was featured in the werkbund magazine "die form" (nr. 21/1929), design credited to paul renner (1878-1956).
