this book about the history of telephony in switzerland was published at the occasion of the schweizerische landesausstellung (swiss national exhibition) or "landi" in 1939.

the year appears on the brochure cover, in the middle of the circular phone dial (remember these?) where usually the phone number was printed.

ernst a. heiniger (1909-1993) is credited in the impressum for the design and most of the photographs.

heiniger also made films for the swiss telephone authority, and later for disney.

some of his great photographs are featured in book story 81).

the blue background of the cover montage is a wiring diagram.
