lichtreklame und schaufensterbeleuchtung
gewerbemuseum basel, 1928
size: 21 x 15 cm
designer: (unknown)
already in the late 1920s the gewerbemuseum basel organised several exhibitions on modern culture such as this 1928 show about neon signs and window display design.
several gewerbemuseum posters were designed by swiss bauhäusler theo balmer, among others, in a modernist style. this catalog is not credited, but clearly influenced by the "new typography" movement.
wilhelm lotz, editor of the german werkbund magazine "die form" (and later an admirer of nazi architect albert speer), contributed a text.
the "new typography" style is evident ...
in the ads, too.
