swiss tourist posters and brochures from the early 20th century are famous for their design. by the 1930s swiss photographer and graphic designer herbert matter (1907-1984) became a star of this genre (see story 430).
this undated leaflet for davos doesn't credit any designer or author, only the photographer: emil meerkämper (1877-1948) ran a photo business in davos. fretz in zurich is credited as the printer.
the photomontage style is much like matter's, ...
... especially the woman "looking" at the location of davos on the map – indicated by arrows, and the overprinted light blue photos with sansserif typography. in a 1930s issue of the magazine "typographische monatsblätter" this brochure is reproduced and credited to matter.
