verlag oprecht, zürich, 1939

designer: robert s. gessner (jacket)
ludwig hohl (1904-1980) was a swiss writer who didn't enjoy much commercial success, although he was appreciated by younger colleages such as frisch and dürrenmatt. in 1939 the first two parts of his aphorism-style nuances and details were published by oprecht in zürich.
the jacket design with assymetrically arranged sans-serif type in overlapping tetragons reminds of a constructivist painting. the artist signed it with his initial, a hand-written "g." ... .
... standing for robert s. gessner (1903-1982), a swiss abstract artist (see story 334).
gessner is credited in the impressum, for the jacket design only.
