fred bowald (no biographic details yet) was a travel writer who had published this büchergilde book before, also designed by richard paul lohse (1902-1988).

"lagoon storms" is again about africa, as the photographic jacket suggests. note the white cloth cover, with a "negative" black spine title and an embossed african drawing on the front.

the title spread combines slab-serif type with a photo of a native african – a detail of which was used for the jacket.
