again a kunsthalle basel catalogue design by armin hofmann (*1920), in a similar vein as our previous story. note the slanted title echoing the black bar in the photo. again for the exhibition of an american painter, mark rothko (1903-1970).

for this "minimalist" cover, hofmann simply printed a light-grey akzidenz-grotesk title on the brown wrapper, maybe echoing the horizontal colour fields of rothko's paintings (see below). the cover design also somewhat reminds of book 16.

text contributions are by american museum men peter selz (*1919) and robert goldwater (1907-1973).
