book (design) story #489
nina smirnowa:
marfa
erich reiss verlag, berlin, 1932
size: ?? x ?? cm
designer: georg salter (jacket+cover)
another flashy jacket design by "jack of all styles" georg salter (1897-1967). the deliberately "clumsy" blue/white lettering on bright orange is somewhat similar to book 292, ...
... a good match for these strories, both of which are about "wild, immoral" young people leading a life different from what their society expects (and both printed by the famous offizin haag-drugulin in leipzig). this is a siberian novel about a girl named "marfa" by an author i haven't found any more info about.
this is the paperback version, so i don't know how the cover (also designed by salter according to the imprint) looks like.
