französische gebrauchsgraphik der gegenwart
kunstgewerbemuseum zürich (wegleitung 181), 1950
printer: kunstgewerbeschule der stadt zürich
size: 21 x 15 cm
designer: (unknown)
this kunstgewerbemuseum zürich catalogue for a 1950 exhibition of contemporary french graphic design features a modernist cover by an uncredited designer: note the lowercase title and the blue and red squares which seem to refer to the french tricolore.
the typography features unusual large spaces to mark a new paragraph. the catalogue was printed in the kunstgewerbeschule studios, so i guess the design was supervised by one of the teachers.
basel-based graphic designer fritz bühler (1909-1963) contributed a text.
below design examples by jacques nathan (left) and guy georget.
