this 1934 compilation of short stories by swiss writers was pusblished by the orell füssli verlag in zürich.

among the featured authors is cécile ines loos (1883-1959) who we came across in story 519. her authoboigraphical text "the manteuffel kingdom" is quite remarkable: she describes life with the german baron job von manteuffel and his family in a house in ohringen near winterthur, switzerland (not far from where where i live). loos was working as a governess for the manteuffel children from 1902-1906.

the design of the cover and (moderately modernist) jacket is credited to ernst buss (dates?) who designed several books for orell füssli.
