this photo book by german feminist and reformer of education helene lange (1848-1930) on the development of children was based on a 1930 documentary film by fritz puchstein (1893-1968).
no designer is credited, however i attribute this jacket to walter cyliax (1899-1945) who designed numerous books for the rotapfel-verlag: the script title is very similar to book 481.
the book is dedicated to erika puchstein who produced the film.
the typography is traditional with a fraktur typeface, but the photo direction is modern and film-like.
