in 1928 zürich-based publisher orell füssli started an edition of italian writer luigi pirandello's (1867-1937) literary works, see also story 481.
the editions featured photomontage dustjacket designs by walter cyliax (1899-1945), different for each volume.
this copy was rebound, reusing the jacket's front panel and spine title.
the photomontage emulates the style of john heartfield who mostly used expressive handwriting rather than type for titles and names.
pirandello's "novelle per un anno" were originally published 1922-1927 in 15 volumes. this german edition covers the first.
