printer: abc druckerei und verlags ag, zürich
size: 26 x 26 cm
designer: walter bangerter
1965 was the last year of the influential swiss graphic design magazine "neue grafik". in this year its co-editor hans neuburg (1904-1983) published this book about graphic design in swiss industry – a field neuburg had specialized in.
the steel-blue colour of the jacket and cover seems appropriate to the book's theme. square format, multilingual text in a multicolumn layout, grid-based placement of illustrations, ...
... and sans-serif type in only one size and weight on the inner pages (including title page) are typical for the swiss "neue grafik" style. the designer is walter bangerter (1907-1986).
the sections are separated by steel-blue coloured pages. max bill contributed the foreword.
the reproductions show great examples of graphic design work. below some brochures for swiss industrial companies ...
... and here some logos, all designed by hans neuburg – except the 3rd from left, richard paul lohse's logo for escher wyss.
