fred bowald's (no biographic details yet) travel report about west africa (guinea) was published by the swiss büchergilde gutenberg in 1939.
again a design by richard paul lohse (1902-1988) who is credited in the impressum: the jacket and cover feature a handdrawn, narrow-bold, classicist antiqua typeface, and an african mask, reduced to its white painted parts on the blue cloth cover.
the asymmetric title page with contrasting typefaces shows a "new typography" influence, ...
... as do the fat page numbers in the table of contents and the asymmetrically placed photos.
