in 1984 a selection of letters and other writings by hans scholl (1918-1943) and sophie scholl (1921-1943) were published.

the scholls were part of a resistance group called "die weisse rose" (the white rose) in nazi germany.

i read a hollywood movie "the white rose" is planned starring christina ricci as sophie scholl.

this book was designed by otl aicher (1922-1991) who was a close friend of hans and sophie scholl. in the 1950s he married their sister inge scholl, and they initiated the hfg ulm. aicher books often come with a very white dustjacket and a grey or black cloth cover (see book stories 105, 106, 107) .

the page layout is asymmetric "swiss/ulm style". otl aicher liked stanley morison's times typeface, and minimal leading.
