in 1959 the city of zürich architecture competition for a new theatre building. the findings were published in this brochure.

walter bangerter (1907-1986) designed the spiral-bound brochure in the classic swiss style of the time: the blue cover with akzidenz-grotesk semi-bold in black and white is very much like this müller-brockmann book.

the winning project by william dunkel, professor for architecture in zürich, is pictured above. the models were exhibited in the university building. a sheet serves as a plan for the exhibition. however, none of the projects has been realised – the old theatre buliding from 1891 (now called "opernhaus") has been renovated instead.
