this book is a germnan translation of "report on the vatican" by bernard wall (1908-1974), a british catholic publisher.
the book is interesting for his jacket and cover design by anton stankowski (1906-1998). the jacket's pictorial montage of dish antennas above the basilica of st. peter in rome. the violet or "amaranth red" is the colour of the robes worn by catholic bishops.
the book's typography is traditional.
