tis book is closely related to story 76 where you'll find more information about the author, aline valangin (1889-1986).

these "stories from the valley" are valangin's first collection of novels from the ticino area in southern switzerland were she lived, published two years earlier than the aforementioned book.

the cover design and typography of the 1937 and 1939 books are almost identical (apart from the colour of the cloth), ...

... but the jackets aren't: here we have a purely typographic solution with a vertical list of story titles, similar to some of bill's exhibition catalogue covers (e.g. story 151).
