size: 19 x 13 cm
designer: jan tschichold
francesco fausto nitti (1899-1974) describes his escape from mussolini's prison island where he was held as a political prisoner.
his background was not leftist but he was an active member of the methodist church. after his escape to france in 1929 he became an activist in the antfascist resistance movement.

the foreword is by the author's uncle francesco saverio nitti, the former prime minister of italy.

the impressum credits jan tschichold (1902-1974) for the design of the cover and dustjacket.

although tschichold is not credited for the typography of the inner pages, these also reveal his influence: ...

... their design is similar to tschichold's "bücherkreis" books. the photo shows the author with two friends who escaped with him.
