lars müller, baden, 2001
size: 24 x 16 cm
photographer: jules spinatsch
designer: lars müller, sandra neumaier, markus reichenbach

now for something completely different – but nevertheless a (cult) phenomenon in the swiss modernist graphic design tradition: it's called freitag – ...

..."individual recycled freeway bags" made from used tarpaulins, inner tubes, and seatbelts.

lars müller (*1955) published and co-designed this book about the bags which were invented in 1993 in zürich by two brothers, markus and daniel freitag (which means friday). the spine of the book is made from a piece of tarpaulin, like the bags.

it is mainly a photo book – great photographs by jules spinatsch (*1964), ...

... with texts by max küng (*1969).

the different freitag bag models are named after tv series: lassie, fury, etc.

... freitag lifestyle ...

finally the book amidst some of the freitag bags in our house!
