in the early 1930s, many of the popular novels published by the zeitschriftenverlag berlin sported flashy modernist cover designs, ...
... some by cesar domela-nieuwenhuis (1900-1992), see e.g. stories 169 and 324. this example is not signed nor credited, but quite obviously domela's style: note the slanted constructivist design with sans-serif titles, cropped photo, blue/black colour scheme and use of screen foil.
i don't know anything about the author. this copy is in rather poor condition, and the cheap paper has browned.
