basel school pioneer armin hofmann (*1920) designed many exhibition posters and catalogues for the kunsthalle basel (see e.g. strories 313 or 389). here the cover of a 1968 catalogue for an exhibition of amercan painter sam francis (1947-2005). interestingly, hofmann's typography seems to echo francis' paintings which often show bled-off shapes of mostly blue colour on a white background (see below).

the whole booklet is designed in the swiss style.
