this is the october issue 1/1930 of "deutscher drucker", a periodical for reproduction techniques and graphic arts published in berlin.

the stunning cover was designed by georg trump (1896-1985), featuring his new slab-serif typeface "city".

the main article by photographer otto mende (1871-1932) on autotype halftone printing adresses the problems of moiré effects. trump's cover also plays with moiré patterns.

there are some design examples by jan tschichold and by students of the meisterschule munich. like tschichold, trump had been a teacher at this school and became its director after paul renner was sacked by the nazis in 1934.
