franz heinrich achermann:
moskau oder konnersreuth?
verlag der buchdruckerei a.g., baden, 1935
size: ?? x ?? cm
designer: (unknown)
we have come across franz heinrich achermann (1881-1946) before, in book story 429. here another rather hilarious novel by this swiss catholic priest and writer of popular adventure stories.
it is here for the flashy cover design which puts a large silver question mark behind the title moscow or konnersreuth? on film strips.
no designer is credited (maybe it is by martin gyr, the designer of achermann's aforementioned book issued by the same publisher?). the inner pages are in old-fashioned blackletter.
the story is about a russian beauty, movie star and secret agent, who is courted by the entire bolshevik elite including stalin ... she is supposed to play the role of therese neumann (1898-1962), a stigmatised woman in the german village of konnersreuth who was big news at the time. instead of taking part in that anti-religious movie our heroine opts to change sides and fight the commies ... the showdown is spectacular! nazis are not mentioned in the story, nonetheless the hitler regime banned this book: obviously therese neumann wasn't compatible with their ideology either ... well, i read that finally her benediction seems to be underway.
