der graphische betrieb
bildungsverband der deutschen buchdrucker gmbh, berlin, around 1928
size: 32 x 23 cm
designer: rudolf dörwald

here two issues of a periodical for printing professionals: "der graphische betrieb" was published by the bildungsverband der deutschen buchdrucker, the german typographers/printers' union ...

that also ran the büchergilde gutenberg. the june 1928 issue covers the trade show "pressa" in cologne, with photos of the bildungsverband's stand.

it is designed in the early new typography style with fat rules and huge page numbers, ...

... and an ad for jan tschichold's seminal book (story 29!

the february 1931 issue features a cover design by rudolf dörwald (dates?) who also designed büchergilde books (see story 304), while the 1928 cover was designed by karl alder and printed with bronze ink. the impressum lists georg dörband (dates?) as editor. the insert "der graphische lichtbildner" reveals the typographic evolution from 1928 to 1931.

below the back cover and a loosely inserted ad.
