according to hans girsberger's memoirs these later editions were designed by walter cyliax (1899-1945), bound in elegant japanese "washi" paper.

while cyliax was an important exponent of modernist typography and graphic design in switzerland, he also was a master of tasteful traditional book typography – the kind jan tschichold would later return to.
