book (design) story #617
(unknown) :
fremde wiegenlieder 1-12
j.r. geigy, s.a., basle, around 1960
size: 13 x 13 cm
designer: (unknown)
another geigy pr campaign with anapproach similar to the previous story: ...
a series of "foreign lullabys" on 5 inch vinyl records – "original geigy recordings" of u.s.-american, russian, italian, hungarian, korean, yiddish, polish, swedish, chinese, argentinian, pakistani and belgian songs – ...
... which serve to promote the sleeping aid medomin! like other bartbital derivates, medomin is highly addictive and has since been withdrawn from the market.
ironically, the lullabies of the cold war opponents usa and russia appear on the same record...! the graphic design and typography (sans-serif) are typical examples of the geigy style. i don't know who was the designer.
