... was designed by emil ruder (1914-1970. for the cover ruder combined three figures and a green rectangle with akzidenz-grotesk for the artists' names (repeated on the title page).

the green rectangle of the cover also corresponds to the (asymmetrical) type area. after the mid-1950s these kunsthalle catalogues are set in sansserif type.

the asculptors are hermann blumenthal (1905-1942), who died as a soldier in russia, ...

... gerhard marcks (1889-1981) who had been a teacher at the bauhaus in weimar and later at the burg giebichenstein school in halle, ...

... and basel-born artist alexander zschokke (1894-1981). above zschokke's portrait of painter oskar kokoschka.
