hans fischli / hans aeschbacher
zürcher kunstgesellschaft / helmhaus, zürich, 1952
printer: käserpresse, zürich
size: 21 x 15 cm
designer: friedrich käser (attributed)
a catalog of a 1952 zürich exhibition of sculptures by two local artists. the catalogue design in classic swiss style is credited to "käserpresse, zürich", so i attribute it to friedrich käser (dates?).
note that one of the names is printed all-lowercase, the other one mixed-case: ...
hans fischli (1909-1989) had studied at the bauhaus in dessau where all-lowercase typography was program.
in 1954 bauhaus dessau student hans fischli succeeded bauhaus weimar meister johannes itten as director of the kunstgewerbeschule zürich. btw hans fischli's son, renowned artist peter fischli, wrote this great short text about his father and the bauhaus house he built for his family.
swiss abstract sculptor hans aeschbacher (1906-1980) was also featured in this group exhibition catalogue.
