looking at the (rather soiled) cover of this early 1930s kunsthalle basel exhibition catalogue, the influence of jan tschichold (1902-1974) seems obvious.
although no designer and no printer is credited, we know that at the time most kunsthalle basel catalogues were printed by benno schwabe & co, ...
... the publishing house jan tschichold had started working for after emigrating to switzerland in late july 1933.
the catalogue of this major exhibition on amadeo modigliani (1884-1920) includes a text in french by charles-albert cingria (1883-1954), a swiss art critic and writer.
note the well designed table pages.
