the society switzerland–soviet union was an important lobby organisation for the communist state. this brochure by hans von fischer (1900-1961), a doctor who co-founded the left-wing humanitarian organisation, css (centrale sanitaire suisse), points out the positive aspects of soviet health politics.

the booklet was designed by richard paul lohse (1902-1988), although he is not credited. lohse also designed other brochures for the society switzerland–soviet union (see story 7) and for the css (see the catalogue raisonné of his graphic design work, isbn 3775709916).

lohse's cover design is based on a red square and asymmetric typography – very much in the vein of tschichold's bücherkreis work, see stories 68, 69, 77.

inside the booklet, there is an ad for another book, containing the constitution of the ussr.
