egidio reale, willy rotzler:
forme nuove in italia
kunstgewerbemuseum zürich (wegleitung 201), 1954
printer: kunstgewerbeschule zürich (cover); ag. fachschriften-verlag & buchdruckerei, zürich (inner pages)
size: 21 x 15 cm
designer: carlo vivarelli (cover)
carlo vivarelli (1919-1986) is credited for the cover of this 1954 kunstgewerbemuseum zürich exhibition catalogue on modern italian design. this zürich-born artist and graphic designer had worked for some time with the famous studio boggeri in milan, and was again based in zürich in his later years. this brochure cover plays around with a square italian flag in a systematic grid. the use of sans-serif in a single size and weight is typically swiss – epitomized in the inner pages of the magazine "neue grafik" designed by vivarelli (see story 260).
sans-serif rules on the inner pages, too.
