basel-based art historian and museum man georg schmidt (1896-1965) was an important author on modern art and design we have come across in numerous books of this collection.
when schmidt died an 1965, this collection of his early articles on modern art was published by the basel-based national-zeitung where they originally appeared between 1921 and 1929. identical labels are on the spine and slipcase.
among the tipped-in reproductions are this paintings by böcklin, cézanne, gauguin, kandinsky, munch and nolde.
the booklet was printed in a limited edition of 1000 numbered copies.
