this is a 1931 issue of a magazine published by the tourist office of münster, a city in westphalia. its design is obviously inflenced by the modernist movement – it is rather similar to the german werkbund magazine "die form" (see story 358).

at that time the tourist office was directed by paul engelmeier (1888-1971), an active catholic who was immediately sacked when the nazis took over.

there is an article about a graphic design exhibition, with reproductions of werkbund-style designs. also the ads are very "new typography".
