modern housing and architecture was a key subject for the german and swiss werkbund movement. this 1926 exhibition on the new home marked the beginning of a series of similar efforts organised by the kunstgewerbemuseum zürich. this catalogue cover which is identical to the exhibition poster was designed by ernst keller (1891-1968), the "father" of swiss modern graphic design. it shows the typical "kunstgewerbeschule zürich" style with bold sans-serifs, similar to the cover of book 367.

inside the catalogue is still more traditionally designed, with celtic knot style initials signed "k." for walter käch (1901–1970), a teacher at the kunstgewerbeschule like keller and ...

... interior designer wilhelm kienzle (1886-1958) who contributed a text, as did emma maria weese-blaser (1885-??). this tipped-in photo shows furniture designed by max haefeli.
