in the 1930s the halle/saale-based prublisher wilhelm knapp started to publish a series of practical guide booklets on photgraphy called "Fotorat" (photo advice), see also our next story.
booklet no, 15 was about photo development techniques in the dark room.
it was written by walter peterhans (1897-1960) who had been a teacher at the bauhaus dessau and later at werner graeff's fotoschule berlin. in 1938 he emigrated to the states.
this edition dates from 1935.
official nazi germany was mostly against "bauhaus" culture and design, so the "modernist" approach and look of this publisher's photo publications is rather surprising.
